Day two in the Yosemite park we went to see the giant Sequoias in the Mariposa Grove. Since we had the big RV, we could not drive the road to the grove or park there. Instead we had to drive four miles down the mountain to the Wawona Visitor Center and ride the park bus back out to see the Sequoias. If you have a tow vehicle, you save a lot of fuel and white knuckle driving to see the sights. If you don’t, tough it out because the trip is so worth it, the trees and entire grove was an awesome place to visit!
check out the tiny car at the base! I had to use panorama mode to capture full height!Mariposa Grove’s namesakeOne of many giants, you don’t see these in Arizona! One of the old drive thru trees that still survives…more big ones…another panorama, this one is 368 feet tall! One of the trees with natural burns at the base, actually a healthy thing!Went for a self guided tour when we got back to Wawona to see some of the early buildings and tour buses of the day. It took all day to get down to Yosemite Valley on these!Old West style covered bridgeThe timbers for this are huge!one of many old buildings used by the park service until the early 1900’s.
