We were heading to a wedding party for our niece Chenin and her husband Bryce. Instead of just flying in for the weekend, my brother & sister inlaw convinced us to make it a week long trip and stay in their RV. Seemed like a great way to see the sights of Bend Oregon and we thought it would be fun to help with party prep.
Brews, beer is pretty much embedded in the Gilles gene, after our trip to Germany a few years ago I realized it probably goes back quite a few centuries. So a trip to Bend must include an attempt at finishing the Ale Trail! I was a few brews short of honoring my heritage, but once we found out a visit the last couple pubs can get you the final stamps on your Ale Trail book, Mike & I scored the goodies (courtesy of the Bend Chamber of Commerce).
Buttes, lots of volcanic buttes! Between micro-brews and all of the beautiful places around Bend, there lots of places to see, more than we could fit into a week! My brother Mike always told me how much Bend looks like northern Arizona, I was surprised just how much it does! But with a lower elevation and many more rivers with water running, the Bend area is much more lush than it’s Arizona cousins! Bend is definitely a great city and region to visit!
Bouquets, well maybe no bouquets or garters, but Chenin & Bryce had a great marriage celebration and our congrats and best wishes for happiness for many years to come! We had a blast at your party, meeting your great friends and getting to be part of it all, thanks!
Get your book and hit the trail! The view of Bend from Pilot ButteNo idea who’s truck, I just had to capture the view beyond 🙂No tourist stop is complete without a plaque 🙂Took a trip to Hosmer Lake, awesome place!Looks like lots of snow to me, but Mike said it’s way short this year.Who could resist giving these guys some scraps!one way to keep them from stealing from AlvinWe spotted a Gray Fox on the way back from Hosmer Lake.Brother Mike & Sister Michelle partaking in the ancient drinkI don’t remember what Alice was drinking, but I was enjoying mine 🙂Mike & I sampling the good life…Three creeks, not sure I can pick just one! Some food prep and drinking the night before the partyYes they are prepping some food 🙂
